Wise words from a Wiseman!
A good friend of mine once said: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” This is one of my favorite quotes, and here is why.
Ohh, yeah…. Sorry. It was more than just a good friend who said it. It was Gandalf.
One of the reasons he says these wise words to Master Frodo is that he is losing faith. People often do that in real life as well, even though they don’t go through nearly as much as Frodo Baggins. Life is in many ways very tough, but there is hope.
Hope is one of the most important things to do if you want to turn a bad situation into a good one. That is what Gandalf did, and that is what you and I can do when shit hits the fan!
This is a good quote to remember because sometimes a point of view can make a bad situation better. So, instead of letting yourself get influenced by all the bad things, try to see if you can turn a situation around like Gandalf.
I tried this at the weekend, where I was at a party with a very sad guy. He was losing faith, yeah he was also a bit drunk not to mention, but this also works in many sober situations. So, he was a bit sad about his life and was missing a purpose. He thought a lot of things were a waste of time and was almost too ambitious to creating success.
This is a big problem in many people’s lives because they are striving so much to be successful, that they forget, that the time is theirs and theirs only to decide.
He could not understand why I was using so much time to simply walk. Walk the Camino de Santiago, and just going for an evening walk every day. That is not important why I do that, because the time is up to me to decide. And I tried simply to remind him of, that he was in the same position, even though he is getting pushed by life and the capitalistic society.
It happens to me as well. Very often indeed. Then it is important to remember this beautiful quote and also have some friends to remind you.
